Peddapalli: Bolli Swamy, who went all the way to Indore to meet Geeta, the hearing- and speech-impaired woman he claims is his lost daughter, is now a disappointed man. However, he nurses a flicker of hope.

Geeta hit headlines earlier after she strayed into Pakistan and was returned to the care of an NGO in Indore. After seeing the footage of Geeta visiting the Basar temple, Swamy and his family members believe that their lost daughter, who was also speech- and hearing-impaired, was none other than Geeta.

Swamy met Geeta at Anand Services Society, the NGO, in Indore, but she could not recognise him. He also took with him some toys, clothes and photographs in the hope that she would recognise them. However, the glimmer of hope for him is that the NGO has promised to bring her to his village to see if she recollects anything.

Geeta had communicated about a tank and a temple near her residence and also some paddy fields. She had also recalled a railway station and an idli centre. After watching all the photos and old dresses taken along with him, Geeta had repeatedly asked for photos of a double-storey hospital. She might have been referring to a maternity hospital located in Vavilala, located about 10 km from Tharupalli. Interestingly, his daughter Saritha was born in that hospital, he said.

As she was unable to recall her childhood memories by watching photographs, she expressed her desire to visit Tharupalli personally, Swamy’s cousin Shyam said. Almost everyone, including the NGO authorities and police officials, opined that facial features of Geeta were very close to Swamy’s. The NGO had assured to bring Geeta to Tharupalli within 15 days, he informed.
