Pakistani national nabbed in Hyderabad for fraud, forced conversion
A Pakistani national was taken into custody by Langar Houz police in Hyderabad on charges of fraud, financial harassment, and forced religious conversion. He allegedly concealed his identity using fake documents to marry an Indian woman, Keerthi, and later subjected her to abuse, coercion, and financial exploitation.
Hyderabad: A Pakistani national, identified as Fahad Akeel, has been taken into police custody by the Langar Houz police following allegations of fraud, financial harassment, and forced religious conversion in Hyderabad on Friday.
He was reportedly caught in a house with another woman after his wife, Keerthi, alerted authorities.
According to police sources, Keerthi, a divorcee, met Fahad while they both worked at an IT firm in the city. Fahad, a Pakistani citizen, allegedly used fake identity documents, including a fraudulent Aadhaar card, to conceal his nationality and convince Keerthi that he was Indian. They were married in 2016 and have a son together.
Initially, their relationship was reportedly good, but Fahad’s behavior changed over time. He is accused of harassing and abusing Keerthi for money and forcing her and her daughter to convert to Islam, at which point Keerthi was renamed Doha Fatima.
The woman has also alleged that Fahad coerced her into taking out bank loans amounting to Rs 20 lakh, with her being solely responsible for the EMI payments.
The situation came to a head when Fahad began avoiding Keerthi. She discovered he was engaged in an extramarital affair and was secretly spending time with another woman.
Keerthi then contacted the Langar Houz police, who located Fahad and the woman in a house and took them into custody for questioning.
Further investigation by the authorities revealed that Fahad had been residing in India since 1998.
Keerthi has also alleged that Fahad’s family members are illegally staying in the country with fake identities and that he has a history of deceiving other women under the guise of love and marriage.
The Langar Houz police have booked a case and are currently working to gather his complete background information.
