Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said the Telangana government would complete the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme at any cost. The Minister formally launched the check dams at Devarkadra and Narayanpet in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district on Friday. The check dam at Gurakonda in Devarkadra mandal was constructed with a cost of Rs 6.23 crore and the one at Pusala Pahad village in Narayanpet was constructed at Rs 6.65 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said in the past erstwhile Mahabubnagar was known for barren lands and dry wells and these conditions had forced many people to migrate to eke livelihood.
But after the TRS government came into power, things had improved a lot and people were migrating back to respective villages and taking up farming with the availability of sufficient water, he said adding that one check dam would facilitate in improving groundwater table in five km radius.
The Minister also inaugurated the Rythu Vedika at Pusala Pahad and said the country would prosper only when farmers were happy. Telangana government was according to a top priority for the welfare of farmers in the State, he said. “At any cost, the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation project will be completed,” said Srinivas Goud.
