Pallavi International School: Ushering in Telugu New Year
Principal Meetali Archit explained the importance of the Ugadi festival, the holy bath and the Pachadi served during the festival.

Telugu New Year ‘Plava’ was celebrated with traditional fervour at Pallavi International School, Gandipet. Ugadi or Yugadi, the festival reserved to celebrate the commencement of New Year, is a day especially celebrated with pomp. Ugadi marks the beginning of the new Hindu calendar year which starts with Chaitra month.
A special assembly was conducted by Janaki along with many student participants. Assembly started with a sloka, followed Principal’s address and then a welcome dance by Sudhiksha.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Meetali Archit explained the importance of the Ugadi festival, the holy bath and the Pachadi served during the festival represent different aspects of life. Extending the festival greetings, she blessed the children and wished everyone a prosperous Telugu New Year.
Telugu teacher Sasi explained the significance of Ugadi and the rituals associated with the festival. Sri Charana from class IV explained beautifully the significance of the Ugadi festival while Ananya explained how Ugadi Pachadi is prepared. Moksh took the audience through the Panchanga Sravanam and Rishank also spoke on the importance of the festival. The event concluded with a regional dance by Handawi followed by National Anthem.
