Palliative Care Centre inaugurated at Government Hospital in Suryapet

Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Monday said that the State government has taken special care to provide medical facilities to the elderly and also the persons who were suffering from chronic diseases.

Inaugurating Palliative Care Centre in Government General Hospital at Suryapet, Jagadish Reddy said the quality of healthcare facilities not only improved, but also became more accessible to the poor people due to the measures taken by the State government in the last seven years. He pointed out that infrastructure and medical facilities in the government hospitals had improved on par with corporate hospitals, which indicated the commitment of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao towards public healthcare. He reminded that the State government had also set up dialysis centres in district hospital and also selected area hospitals to provide dialysis facility to the patients suffering renal diseases.

Out of 8,65,365 people covered by a survey conducted by ASHA workers in the district, around 25,335 people needed palliative care. In-patient and out-patients facilities would be available to the people in the Palliative Care Centre round-the-clock. Facility for diagnosis of cancer at an early stage would also be available in the centre. A special vehicle was also provided to the Centre for the purpose of home care service to the patients, who were discharged from the Centre, he added. He informed that nutrition food would be extended to the in-patients of the Centre.

Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Zilla Parishad Chairman Gujja Deepika Youngender Rao, Kodad MLA Bollam Malliah Yadav and Suryapet municipal chairperson Perumalla Annapurnamma.
