Adilabad: Parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district reeled under freezing cold weather conditions for the second day on Monday.
According to a weather report on the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS) website, Arli (T) village in Bheempur mandal shivered at 7.9 degrees Celsius, while Ginnedhari village in Tiryani mandal recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees Celsius. Pembi mandal centre in Nirmal district witnessed a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, Arli (T) saw a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius and Ginnedhari recorded 9.1 degrees Celsius. With the freezing conditions persisting, people from all walks of life, particularly the elderly and children, kept themselves warm using woollen sweaters and bonfires made with timber logs. Most did not venture outdoors until 8 am.
Motorists struggled to move along NH 44 due to poor visibility caused by fog enveloping the road network between Hyderabad and Nagpur. Meanwhile, farmers suspended agricultural activities.
