PCCF calls for concerted efforts for conservation of tigers
Forest officials from Maharashtra said a compensation of Rs.25 lakh was being given to kin of victims of man-animal conflict.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) RM Dobriyal underlined the need for concerted efforts by officials for conservation of tigers in the forests of both Telangana and Maharashtra.
Convening a meeting with officials of the two States in the forests between Jakkapur and Makodi villages in Sirpur (T) mandal in the wake of killing of a human and attack on a farmer by a tiger recently, Dobriyal enquired about the measures being taken by forest officials in Maharashtra for conservation of tigers in Tadoba and Tipeshwar Tiger Reserves, how they were tracking and protecting the tigers in the reserves and also how they were tackling man-animal conflict. The steps taken in the event of killings of humans by tigers was also checked.
Forest officials from Maharashtra said a compensation of Rs.25 lakh was being given to kin of victims of man-animal conflict. They informed that market value of cattle was being offered to farmers if cows or buffalos were killed by tigers. They noted that they were strictly preventing encroachment of forest cover in the reserves to prevent tigers from entering farms and human settlements for its prey.
Dobriyal said he would tour the reserves to study measures being taken by officials for effective conservation of the tigers, tackling the man-animal conflict and prevention of encroachments of forest cover. He said special focus would be laid on ensuring conducive living conditions, monitoring of tigers and to check the killing of humans by the tigers in the district.
DFO Neeraj Kumar stressed the need to work in tandem to protect and track movement of tigers. Wildlife Chief Warden Elusing Meru, Chandrapur Assistant Conservator of Forests Prakash Avadhutawar, Dabha RFO Gourkar, Kagaznagar FDO Sahu and others were present.
