Peddapalli: Four more arrested in Gunjapadugu bank theft case

Ramagundam Commissionerate detained four more persons in connection with Gunjapadugu bank theft case.
Peddapalli: Ramagundam Commissionerate police, who arrested Adesh Sharma in connection with the Gunjapadugu SBI branch bank theft case on May 1, detained four more persons in connection with the case.
The arrested persons are Raju Vasantha Rao Varbe, Sanketh Tejram Ukhe of Chandrapur, Devadas Roop Chand Kapgate of Girolaheti, Gondia district of Maharastra and Danvir alias Gyasto of Hasnapur, Badayu district of Uttar Pradesh.
A total of nine accused belonging to Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh were involved in the sensational SBI Gunjapadugu branch theft that took place on March 24. The , 2021. The thieves fled with 6 kg of gold ornaments and Rs 18 lakh cash.
Based on the complaint lodged by branch manager, Prahlad Pingwa, police began investigation after registering a case. With the help of some technical support, the cops arrested Adesh Sharma in his native place in Uttar Pradesh on May 1 and recovered 20 tolas of gold from him. Meanwhile, five other accused involved in bank theft were arrested by Maharashtra police in connection with other cases. Based on the information given by Adesh Sharma, Ramagundam police approached Maharashtra cops for the custody of the accused. On May 10, they were produced before Manthani Magistrate through virtual mode on PT warrant and were remanded.
Based on the court’s instructions, Ramagundam police took four of them into custody for a period of four days from May 16 to 19 and brought them to Manthani police station from Chandrapur central jail.
Peddapalli DCP P Ravinder, OSD Sharath Pawar, and Godavarikhani ACP Umesh interrogated the accused and tried to get details about three other accused, who were absconding.
On Wednesday, they were produced in Manthani court. Later, they were shifted to Chandrapur jail.
