Peddapalli: The name of retired engineer, Veldi Vasantha Rao, has been mentioned as A-6 in the remand report of the sensational murder case of advocate couple Gattu Vamana Rao and PV Nagamani on February 17.
Though he was not involved in the case, Vasantha Rao was included as A-6 in the remand report submitted in the court by the police. Based on the complaint by Kishan Rao, father of Vamana Rao, police registered the case against Vasantha Rao, Kunta Srinivas and others.
With the arrest of Kunta Srinivas, S Chiranjeevi and Akkapaka Kumar, police came to know that Vasantha Rao was not involved directly in the murder. Vasantha Rao’s name was mentioned in the remand report stating that some more evidence was yet to be collected since he was in dispute with Vamana Rao’s family over the election of a new committee for Ramaswamy and Gopalaswamy temple.
The report said that Kunta Srinivas, Akkapaka Kumar and Vasantha Rao formed a new temple committee and conducted a meeting, summoning temple secretary Indrashekar Rao without the permission of village sarpanch.
Kunta Srinivas with the help of villagers elected Vasantha Rao as new chairman of the temple and scrapped the old committee headed by Vamana Rao’s brother.
