Medak: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the TRS could sweep the MLC LAC (Local Authorities Constituency) elections in the State because the TRS voters did not fall prey to the Congress party. Accusing the age-old party of attempting all means to lure their voters in the MLC elections, the Minister said that the victory had become a cakewalk for the TRS candidates because the voters kept faith in the ruling party’s leadership.

Harish Rao congratulated the TRS MLC Candidate for Medak Dr Vonteru Yadava Reddy who has won the election with a massive 524 votes majority.

Dr Reddy and other leaders from the erstwhile Medak district have met the Finance Minister at his chambers in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening. Saying that they had got 762 against the expected 754 voters, Rao thanked ZPTCs, MPTCs and Municipal Councillors for keeping faith in the party leadership.

Accusing the Congress Party of raising the issue of farmers to only gain in the elections, the Minister said the Congress Party had no right to speak on the farmers’ related issues because they had done nothing for the farmers during their rule. Stating that the Congress Party could not give free 24X7 power supply, supply of fertilisers, Rao said that Congress leaders kept mum when the N Kiran Kumar Reddy headed government did not give a rupee for the Neelam Cyclone affected Khammam and Warangal districts. Saying that the Telangana is the only government to give free 24X7 power supply by spending Rs 10,500 crore, the Minister said the government is giving Rythu Bandu by spending Rs 14,500 crore. He further said that Telangana is the only country to give Rythu Bheema by spending Rs 1,400 crore. Rao said that Telangana was spending Rs 13.5 per cent of the Budget on the farm sector while the many States were way behind.

MLAs M Padmadevendar Reddy, C Madan Reddy, MLC Farooq Hussain, Forest Development Corporation Chairman V Prathap Reddy, DCMS Chairman Malkapuram Shiva Kumar and others were present.
