Hyderabad: Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G Mohiuddin of the Telangana High Court on Monday directed the Registry to number a public interest litigation alleging large-scale illegal constructions on government land in Nallagandla village of Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district.
The PIL was filed by J Shankar and others of Secunderabad, complaining that the authorities had failed to take action against illegal constructions raised on government lands situated in Survey Nos. 85 to 196, stretching along the Nallagandla Surplus Nala.
The petitioners alleged that extensive constructions, including large villa projects, were being carried out in the nala bed, besides encroachments on Inam lands in the area. Seeking immediate intervention, the petitioners urged the Court to stop the ongoing constructions, cancel the registrations relating to such properties and order demolition of the illegal structures.
When the matter came up, it was brought to the notice of the court that the Registry had raised several objections and had not assigned a regular number to the petition. After considering the issue, the Bench accepted the Registry’s objections but held that the petition was fit to be heard as a public interest litigation.
Accordingly, the Bench directed the Registry to assign a regular number to the PIL. The court observed that the matter would thereafter be listed for hearing in accordance with the regular procedure.
