Pillion rider held for instigating driver in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Alwal police on Friday arrested a pillion rider on charges of instigating his friend to drive a scooter in an inebriated condition, resulting in a fatal accident earlier this week. He was booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The arrested person was D.Hemanth Kumar (28), from BJR Nagar in Khairatabad. According to the police, Hemanth and P.Deepak (28), were returning from a liquor party late on Sunday night, when Hemanth, who was riding pillion on Deepak’s scooter, instigated him to drive under the influence of alcohol and to drive fast. Deepak did not have a valid driving licence either. When they reached Khanajiguda in Alwal, Deepak applied sudden brakes, following which both fell off the bike. Deepak suffered head injuries and died on the spot. Hemanth survived with minor injuries.
The Alwal police booked a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act and Hemanth was arrested and produced before court.
