Students of Pallavi Model School, Boduppal, conducted a special assembly on 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. To make the world a better place to live in for the coming generations, students of class II introduced the concept of 3Rs.
Students presented their assembly laying stress on the importance of reducing the consumption of electricity, water, fossil fuels, etc., and also reusing things. Recycling is a concept everyone is well aware of because of the scrap dealers. The scrap dealers help in recycling newspaper glass bottles and a variety of other things which are discarded by households all the time. Students explained that recycling is important because by recycling you give another life to the waste.

The students also explained to the audience how we can all reduce the consumption of electricity and why should we make more use of solar energy which is an unlimited resource. They said that taking a bucket bath instead of a shower; using a carpool or walking wherever possible is a good idea to put into practice.
Through this assembly, the importance of the segregation of bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste was also explained. Students were made aware of the colour codes of the bins used to segregate different types of waste. Some students showed that the kitchen waste, banana peel, etc should be thrown in the green bin and coke can, plastic bags in the blue bin.
The assembly ended on a thoughtful note that the students should own up the responsibility to do their best to improve the environment.
