Khammam: Different Left wing outfits affiliated with the CPI (ML) Mass Line demanded immediate arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son Bandi Sai Bageerath, who has been booked under the POCSO Act.

It was deplorable that, even though five days have passed since the case was registered; the police have yet to take any action against Bageerath, POW leader Ch. Shivamani, TUCI leader G Ramaiah and PDSU leader Laxman.

They staged a protest here on Friday and burnt an effigy of Bandi Sanjay. Speaking on the occasion they sought to know why the BJP leaders who claim that everyone was equal before the law failed demand action against Bageerath in accordance with the law.

They pointed out that existing regulations mandate the immediate recording of the victim’s statement before a judge in POCSO cases, as well as the immediate arrest and interrogation of the accused facing criminal charges; the police’s failure to take such measures gives rise to numerous suspicions.

They recalled that, in the past, allegations had surfaced accusing Bageerath of engaging in eve-teasing, ragging, and physical assaults against students at the college where he was studying. Videos and photographs corroborating those incidents had emerged as substantial evidence at the time.

TUCI leader Ramaiah and others wanted security to the minor girl and ensure an impartial investigation into the case. TUCI leaders Avula Ashok, D Srinu and Sattar; POW leaders P Shobha, Chaitanya, Lakshmi and Kavitha; PDSU leaders Vinay, Suresh and Shravan were present.
