Khammam: Mudigonda police in the district have arrested ten persons, including seven alleged contract killers, involved in a kidnap and murder plot.
It may be noted that former sarpanch of Pandregupalli village Pamu Silvaraju, the husband of current sarpanch Pamu Swarnalatha, was kidnapped by the accused on March 25. A case was registered at Mudigonda police station based on a complaint filed by Swarnalatha.
She alleged that a resident of the same village, Sheikh Fakruddin, along with his sons, Sheikh Bodala Saheb and Sheikh Qasim Saheb, had a grudge against Silvaraju due to his involvement in a land dispute concerning the sharing of their family property and suspected their role in the kidnap.
Acting on the directions of Khammam Rural ACP Tirupati Reddy, Mudigonda police formed two special teams led by Inspector Murali and assisted by SI Ashok. The police located Silvaraju’s location within hours by tracing the suspects’ movements to Hyderabad.
Fakruddin and his two sons hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Silvaraju and hired seven men from Hyderabad who happened to be friends of Bodala Saheb. They offered them a contract killing fee (supari) of Rs 15 lakh to murder Silvaraju and paid an advance of Rs 5 lakh.
After kidnapping Silvaraju, the hired men beat him while taking him to Hyderabad, filming every detail and sending the videos to Bodala Saheb. After realising that the police were tracking them, the accused abandoned him at LB Nagar and fled the scene.
The police tracked their movements, intercepted and arrested all the accused at Teladarupalli toll plaza on Thursday as they were attempting to flee from Hyderabad to Vizag in the vehicles they had used during the crime.
The accused Fakruddin, his sons Bodala Saheb and Qasim Saheb, hired killers Syed Mohammed, Dangi Mayirban Singh, Dangi Silikar Kuljeet Singh, Silikar Azad Singh, Syed Ismail, Rokkam Komala and Varikuppala Tarun were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, said Inspector Murali.
