Police pose as farmers to bust crop loan scam in Telangana’s Adilabad; 34 booked
Accused duped farmers by posing as intermediaries and promising crop loan enhancements in exchange for money. Officers, disguised as farmers, caught them red-handed during a special operation across multiple mandals
Adilabad: Police personnel, posing as farmers, nabbed several individuals across Adilabad district for allegedly duping real farmers by acting as intermediaries and collecting between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 from each, with false promises of enhancing their crop loans.
Several documents were seized from the accused during a special drive conducted on Thursday. So far, 34 individuals have been booked in connection with the fraud.
Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, in a statement, said the accused had adopted a new method to cheat farmers by collecting money under the pretext of increasing their loan amounts. Sixteen special police teams were formed and detained the suspects while they were collecting money from farmers at various locations.
Disguised as farmers, the police apprehended the accused red-handed in Utnoor, Indervelli, Ichoda, Bela, Bheempur, Mavala, Thalamadugu, Bazarhathnoor, and Neradigonda mandals. Cases have been registered, and investigations are underway.
Some of the accused include Jayabai Shankar, Ade Jaipal, Thikde Sagar, Gurge Ramdas, Munde Ramdas, Sambeta Karunakar, Kadarkar Ramesh, Kature Bharat, and Jadav Dinesh from Gudihathnoor mandal; Jadav Hari, Kumra Daulath, Bheem Rao, Rathod Gabbar Singh, and Jadhav Tanaji from Utnoor mandal; Jadav Rahul, Jadav Bikshapathi, Rathod Anil, Jadav Nilesh, Jadav Vijay Kumar, Rathod Suresh, Rathod Dudiram, Yashwanth Rao, Karthik Kumar, Rajesh, and Ganesh from Narnoor mandal.
Others booked include Mohammad Ayub, Sanjeev, and Maradi Suresh from Bela mandal; Kumrapu Ashok and Reddigari Devanna from Bela mandal; Chakram Dev Rao from Mavala mandal; and Narvati Ramu, Komram Ram Shav, and Faruq from Indervelli.
