Addressing a programme in Mahabubnagar on Nov 30, CM A Revanth Reddy had said that Rs.2,747 crore were released for waiving crop loans of 3.14 lakh farmers who had availed crop loan over Rs 2 lakh
Several farmers, who had loans exceeding Rs.2 lakh have not found their names on the list, despite repaying the excess amount to banks following the suggestion of Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao.
The Revanth Reddy government, reaffirmed before the court its commitment to the Pharma City project, despite ongoing legal challenges from local farmers.
Agriculture experts feel that if the banks turn their back on farmers, they would be forced to approach private lenders which will in turn land them in a debt trap.
