Hyderabad: Four days have passed since a gang kidnapped two persons from Bandlaguda and brutally assaulted them at Tallabkatta, but the police have so far failed to nab the suspects.
Mohd Shahbaz and Mohd Faheem, both daily wagers and residents of Ghousenagar, were allegedly kidnapped from Ghousenagar under Bandlaguda police station limits by a gang on Saturday night and severely thrashed.
The duo told mediapersons that the gang, headed by Khalifa, had kidnapped them on Saturday night from Ghousenagar and took them around the city in an autorickshaw before severely beating and attempting to kill them at Tallabkatta.
In videos of the brutal torture shared on social media, the kidnappers are seen thrashing the men with sticks and threatening them with a dagger. In another set of videos, the kidnappers are seen holding the legs and hands of the victims and throwing granite stones on their legs.
The videos went viral on social media platforms, drawing criticism over the policing in the city. The victims, after escaping from the gang at Tallabkatta, approached the Bhavaninagar police, who sent them to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment. A case was registered at the Bhavaninagar police station.
“The gang had kidnapped the two men from Ghousenagar, took them around the city the whole night in an autorickshaw, and assaulted them at various places. We have registered a case and transferred it to the Bandlaguda police station, the point of jurisdiction,” said Bhavaninagar Inspector M Balaswamy.
Rehana Begum, sister of Faheem, told Telangana Today that a team from Bhavaninagar police station came to their area and conducted an enquiry and left on Monday. “The gang from Tallabkatta is forcing Faheem to sell ganja, and when he refused, they kidnapped and beat him. So far, no one has been arrested by the police, and there is a threat to the life of Faheem,” said Rehana.
When contacted, ACP Chandrayangutta A Sudhakar said they have not yet received the case file from Bhavaninagar police station. “Once we receive the case file, we will take up the investigation and apprehend all the persons involved in the case,” said the official.
According to sources, the attack on the two men was a result of gang rivalry between two gangs of ganja peddlers, one headed by Chand Dada and the other by Khalifa and Ali Ba.
