Policeman held for stealing recovered phone at Mehdipatnam police station
A police driver at Mehdipatnam station was arrested for allegedly stealing a recovered mobile phone worth ₹1.75 lakh. The device had been seized from a thief, but vanished from a station drawer. An internal inquiry traced the theft to the policeman, who was remanded.

Hyderabad: A policeman was arrested by the Mehdipatnam police for allegedly stealing a phone recovered from a thief.
According to the reports, the policeman, who is identified as Kumar, worked as a driver at the Mehdipatnam police station. A few days ago, a man had approached the police and made a complaint that his mobile phone valued at around Rs. 1.75 lakh was knocked away by some offenders at Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazaar located beside the Mehdipatnam police station.
After verifying the closed circuit camera footage, the police managed to nab the thief and recovered the mobile phone from him.
The policeman, who was aware of the recovery of the phone, took away the gadget from the drawer of a table in the police station. After the owner approached the police to collect his phone, the police officials checked for the phone and found it missing. The police then conducted an inquiry. During investigation it was revealed the policeman had stolen the phone. A case was registered and the policeman remanded.
