Huzurabad: Collector RV Karnan asked the polling staff to conduct Huzurabad bypoll in a peaceful manner by discharging duties perfectly. The Collector and the Additional Collector Garima Agarwal participated in a training programme for the presiding and assistant presiding officers in ZPHS here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnan advised polling staff to study handbooks published explaining about EVMs and model code. Informing that polling would be held from 7 am to 7 pm on October 30, he said mock polling would be carried out at 6 am. At least 50 votes must be polled in mock polling. After mock polling, the slips should be removed from VVPATs and sealed. Before leaving for the polling station by collecting EVMs from distribution centres established in Huzurabad Degree College, polling staff must check EVMs.
If any problem was developed in VVPATs on the day of polling, staff should get new VVPATs by contacting sectoral officers. It was necessary for polling staff to take double doses of Covid vaccine and follow Covid protocol such as wearing face masks, sanitising hands frequently and maintaining a physical distance. Polling officers must write PO diary, he said and added to submit EVMs and other polling items at SRR college reception centre in Karimnagar after completion of the polling.
