Hyderabad: As 2021 draws to a close, Swiggy delves into 2021’s most interesting ordering trends in India. In its sixth annual StatEATstics report, the online food ordering and delivery platform revealed that the most binged snack of the year was the desi samosa with about 5 million orders on Swiggy. Also, Pav Bhaji was India’s second favourite snack with 2.1 million orders.
Chicken biryani was ordered 4.3 times more than veg biryani and over 4.25 lakh new users made their Swiggy debut by ordering the former, the report said.
According to the report, Bengaluru emerged as the most health-conscious city followed by Hyderabad and Mumbai. It observed that India eats the healthiest on Mondays and Thursdays. Keto orders grew by 23 per cent while there was an 83 per cent surge in vegan and plant-based food orders.
Post 10 pm, night owls mostly ordered cheese-garlic bread, popcorn, and French fries.
With a total of 2.1 million orders, gulab jamun was the most-ordered dessert on Swiggy. In the second position was ras malai with 1.27 million orders.
Besides, the top wishes Genie granted this year were: Food sent for loved ones, pet food, books, baking supplies, and X-Ray reports.
