Hyderabad: Director Prasanth Varma, known for bringing unconventional themes to Telugu cinema, is extending his cinematic universe with Adhira, a new superhero saga. The project, produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal’s RKD Studios, marks the debut of Kalyan Dasari in the lead role, with acclaimed actor S J Suryah joining the cast. The film is being directed by Sharan Koppisetty.
Prasanth Varma, who earlier experimented with the zombie genre and introduced India’s first original superhero with HanuMan, is now shaping another chapter in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). Each story in this universe is designed to carry its own visual identity while remaining connected to a larger narrative.
The makers recently unveiled a striking poster featuring S J Suryah. Set against the backdrop of an erupting volcano, the actor appears in a fierce avatar with horned features and tribal attire. Facing him is Kalyan Dasari in superhero armour, portrayed as a determined force ready to protect Dharma. The visual sets the stage for a dramatic clash between hero and antagonist.
The technical crew includes cinematographer Shivendra, who earlier worked with Prasanth on HanuMan, music composer Sri Charan Pakala, and production designer Sri Nagendra Tangala. Other cast and crew details will be announced in the coming weeks.
With its blend of mythology-inspired themes and modern cinematic scale, Adhira aims to continue Prasanth’s effort to build a homegrown superhero universe. The film’s shoot is currently in progress.
