Hyderabad: Premier Energies, one of India’s leading solar PV cells and module manufacturing company, has commenced trial production of industry leading 19.2% efficiency polycrystalline cells at their new plant where they had invested Rs 483 crore.

These solar cells are produced from high quality silicon wafers. This launch will therefore increase the availability of highest quality made in India solar cells and contribute to the government’s Atma nirbhar Bharat initiatives.

The manufacturing unit is capable to produce black silicon metal-catalysed chemical etching (MCCE) textured multi-crystalline cells (which is first of its kind in India) as well as mono passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) cells with efficiency in excess of 22.5%. This technology will drive the industry towards lower levelized cost of electricity and support a greener future.

The formal inauguration of the plant where this product will be manufactured is expected in July, when the Covid 19 situation is expected to ease. The ISO 9001/ ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facility uses state-of-the-art production systems with total quality and statistical process controls. The facility, which started as a greenfield project, is located at E -City Hyderabad and is spread across 25 acre.

Chiranjeev Saluja, founder and managing director, Premier Energies said, “As more technologies emerge and the existing technologies evolve to meet market demands, our research and development efforts are focused on introducing high efficiency and reliable products. With the commencement of production, we have strengthened our product portfolio which caters to a wide range of customers. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of solar technology and will keep us on the path of leading the change while aligning ourselves with Aatma nirbhar Bharat”.

The other highlights of the new manufacturing facility include visual sorting, color uniformity, minimum power loss and highly automated equipment among others.

Headquartered in Hyderabad, Premier Energies, has a capacity of 1.25 GW module and 0.75GW cell. With this capacity, the company became the second largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India. The company has completed 25 years of operations in 2020.

It is providing solar power solutions to organisations across India and 30 countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Formerly Premier Solar, Premier Energies has diversified from solar energy to a fully integrated clean energy company offering end-to-end solutions, a release said.
