Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar instructed officials to prepare an action plan to supply irrigation water to standing crops in the coming Vaanakalam (Kharif) season.
He conducted a review meeting with the engineers of the irrigation department to discuss pending irrigation projects and check dams at the Collectorate conference hall here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar instructed the officials to fill all tanks that fell under canals by completing the pending works of Mid Manair Dam Left Canal. He informed that the State government sanctioned 33 check dams to the district and 50 percent works were already completed. He wanted the officials to complete the remaining works at the earliest.
Stopping flowing water by constructing check dams helps to enhance the ground water table, the Minister said and wanted the officials to turn parched lands into green fields by supplying Kaleshwaram water to tail-end lands. He also asked them to take up repair works pertaining to Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) canal lining works and complete Manair River Front works on fast track mode.
MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, MLAs Sunke Ravishankar and Rasamai Balkishan, District Collector K Shashanka and others participated in the meeting.
