Hyderabad: The Prime Volleyball League returns for its landmark Season 5, with the new season set to begin on Monday, November 30, 2026. Building momentum ahead of the season, the Season 5 Player Auction will be held in Goa on August 17, 2026, where franchises will assemble their squads for the upcoming season from a pool of India’s top volleyball talent, setting the stage for another highly anticipated competitive season.
In a significant endorsement of its sustained growth and impact over the past four years, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has officially recognized PVL as India’s first division professional volleyball league. This recognition comes on the back of the league’s consistent efforts to build a structured, high-performance competition that has elevated standards, expanded the talent pool, and strengthened the overall volleyball ecosystem in the country.
Further reinforcing its growing stature, clubs participating in Prime Volleyball League will be eligible to compete in international tournaments under the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), and FIVB club competitions, subject to applicable regulations and qualification criteria. This pathway creates new opportunities for Indian clubs to test themselves against top teams across Asia and globally.
Tuhin Mishra, MD & Co-Founder, Baseline Ventures and Director, Prime Volleyball League, said, “Season 5 marks a defining moment for the Prime Volleyball League. The FIVB recognition is a strong validation of the work that has gone in over the last four years to build a credible, competitive, and globally relevant league. Our focus remains on strengthening the ecosystem and creating meaningful opportunities for Indian players to succeed at the highest level.”
Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO, Prime Volleyball League, added, “From the outset, the aim has been to build a league that delivers both sporting excellence and long-term impact. This recognition reinforces that PVL is not just a tournament, but a platform shaping the future of volleyball in India. It is encouraging to see Indian volleyball moving in the right direction, reflected in the national team’s rise from World No. 60 to World No. 42 in the FIVB rankings. We’re excited to continue building towards a stronger Indian volleyball ecosystem.”
With top Indian and international players set to feature, Season 5 promises high-quality action as teams compete for top honours, marking another important chapter in the continued rise of volleyball in India.
