Protect paddy at procurement centres: Bandi Sanjay to TS govt
BJP Telangana State president said several farmers were facing problems due to non-availability of tarpaulins and gunny bags to protect the paddy from sudden rainfall
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday urged the State government to take necessary steps on war-footing for protecting Yasangi paddy brought by farmers to procurement centres from unseasonal rains.
In a statement, he said several farmers were facing problems due to non-availability of tarpaulins and gunny bags to protect the paddy from sudden rainfall that is lashing the State for the last couple of days. He asked the State government not to cause any delay to farmers at procurement centres keeping in view the unseasonal rains.
Paddy brought to procurement centres in LMD Colony, Nugunnuru and Chigurumamidi in Karimnagar district was washed away owing to non-availability of adequate tarpaulins, he said, explaining the problems being faced by farmers in Kamareddy, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Nalgonda districts.
With the meteorological department forecasting rainfall for the next three days, officials concerned should take necessary steps like supplying tarpaulins and gunny bags to prevent further damage to paddy brought by farmers.
At the same time, the paddy should be immediately shifted to mills after completing the formalities, Sanjay demanded. He added the State government informed the Central government that as many as 6,477 procurement centres were established across the State.
