PRTU TS condemns harassment of teachers conducting caste survey
PRTU TS president P. Sripal Reddy and general secretary P. Damoder Reddy met Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari on Wednesday to address concerns about the ongoing survey. The teachers had previously requested a conducive environment for the survey, but reported harassment from some officials. Despite the survey being scheduled from 1 pm to 5 pm, they were instructed to conduct it from 7 am to 9 am, 1 pm to 7 pm, and even 7 am to 6 pm on holidays.

Hyderabad: The Progressive Recognised Teachers’ union Telangana State (PRTU TS) flagged the harassment faced by teachers, who have been holding the Congress government’s caste survey, from the authorities concerned and demanded the harassment be stopped immediately.
PRTU TS president P Sripal Reddy and general secretary P Damoder Reddy met Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari here on Wednesday. While the teachers earlier requested the government to ensure a conducive environment survey, some officials were harassing them, they said.
Though the survey is to be conducted from 1 pm to 5 pm, they have been directed to hold the survey from 7 am to 9 am and 1 pm to 7 pm besides 7 am to 6 pm on holidays as well.
A total of 150 households have been allotted for survey within deadline, PRTU TS president P Sripal Reddy said, adding that since more households were added the deadline must be extended by five days.
The union said after the survey was completed, online entry of details should be done through data entry operators with assistance from the teacher and also wanted leave to teachers on the occasion of Karthika Pournami on November 15.
