Puvvada tells officials to take action against pvt hospitals for overcharging
Minister chaired a high power committee meeting in Khammam and reviewed Covid situation, availability of oxygen, Remdesivir injections, door-to-door fever survey
Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar directed officials to crack the whip on private hospitals that were collecting exorbitant charges for treating Covid-19 patients.
He chaired a high power committee meeting here on Monday and reviewed Covid situation, availability of oxygen, Remdesivir injections, door-to-door fever survey, black fungus cases and implementation of lockdown in the district.
In all, 49 private hospitals have been permitted to treat Covid patients. A few private hospitals were charging high fees causing panic among patients. Covid Task Force has to initiate legal action against such hospitals and the hospitals treating Covid patients without government approval.
There was no shortage of either oxygen or Remdesivir injections in government and private hospitals in the district. There were 322 beds available at the District Hospital, while 30 beds available at Sathupalli government while Penuballi and Madhira hospitals equipped with 20 beds each to treat Covid patients, Ajay Kumar informed.
The Minister wanted strict surveillance at border areas in Madhira and Sathupalli mandals. Steps to stop spread of the coronavirus have to be taken in Kamepally and Singareni mandals where a large number of Covid positives cases were being reported.
Police, revenue and health officials have to visit the villages and set up isolation centres where more than 10 Covid positive cases were reported and shift the patients to the centres. Similarly isolation centres have to be established in every gram panchayat and municipality, he noted.
