Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Thursday heard the plea of student Jhansi Lakshmi, who was debarred in connection with the Nalgonda district’s Nakrekal Class 10 examination paper leak case, which has taken on political overtones.

The police have registered cases against 11 individuals in connection with the incident.

Jhansi Lakshmi approached the Telangana High Court, seeking relief and permission to attend the remaining Science Part 1 and 2 exams scheduled for March 28 and 29 and the Social Studies exam scheduled for April 2.

Counsel for the petitioner argued that the student was coerced into the situation. She asserted that unidentified individuals approached her while she was writing the exam near a window, threatened her and forcibly took photos of the question paper.

The judge, after hearing the submissions, directed the respondents to file a counter by April 7.
