Adilabad: Intense lobbying has begun among Congress leaders for the District Congress Committee (DCC) president posts across the erstwhile Adilabad district, with several aspirants competing for the key organisational positions.
At least four leaders each are vying for the posts in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. In Adilabad, the party’s Assembly nominee Kandi Srinivas Reddy, former MP Soyam Bapu Rao, Ade Gajender, Addi Boja Reddy, Sajid Khan and Gandrath Sujatha are among those seeking the DCC president’s post.
In Nirmal, sitting DCC president Kuchadi Srihari, Patthireddy Rajeshwar, Embadi Rajeshwar, Anand Rao Patel, Dasarath Rajeshwar, Juttu Ashok and Dayanand have reportedly expressed interest. In Mancherial, Konatham Ramesh, a close aide of MLA K. Premsagar Rao, along with leaders Raghunath Reddy, Matthamari Suribabu and Satyanarayana, have applied for the position.
Meanwhile, senior leader K. Vishwaprasad, J. Anil Goud, Baleshwar Goud, Dattu and a few others are in the fray for the Kumram Bheem Asifabad DCC post. The appointments are expected to be finalised within a week, with the process gaining importance as local body elections draw nearer.
Party sources said observers from both the AICC and TPCC have been deputed to the district to assess the contenders. The observers, who do not have links to the erstwhile Adilabad region, are gathering details about the background and performance of the applicants before submitting their reports to the leadership, which will take a final call.
It is learnt that Mancherial DCC president K. Surekha and Kumram Bheem Asifabad DCC president K. Vishwaprasad are likely to be retained. A tribal leader from Adilabad district is expected to be chosen as the DCC chief there, given the significant tribal voter base. Aspirants have intensified lobbying, using their connections within the top leadership.
