Hyderabad: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy dismissed as “fake” the reports that he was quitting the Congress, alleging that a few leaders within the party were deliberately spreading such stories.
“As a disciplined leader in the party, I will abide by the Congress high command’s decision. If I take any political decisions, I will announce them by holding a press conference,” Rajgopal Reddy said.
The MLA, who has lately been critical of the Congress government on several issues, accused the party of failing to provide sufficient urea to farmers and of not allocating adequate funds to MLAs for development works in their constituencies.
Rajgopal Reddy, who has been openly aspiring for a Cabinet berth, reminded that the Congress high command had earlier promised him one. However, he was reportedly disappointed after Chennur MLA G Vivek Venkatswamy, Makthal MLA V Srihari and Dharmapuri MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar were inducted as Ministers in June this year.
Though three Cabinet berths remain vacant, the Congress on Wednesday announced its plans to induct former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, which appears to have further upset Rajgopal Reddy.
Addressing party workers at Choutuppal on Thursday, the Munugode MLA alleged that “a few Congress leaders, along with BRS leaders, are trying to malign me. They are spreading false propaganda that I am quitting the Congress. Do not believe such fake reports.”
Stating that he was a senior leader in the party, Rajgopal Reddy emphasised that the development of Munugode remained his top priority.
