Ramagundam MLA K Chander observing diksha at NTPC on Friday.
Peddapalli: Ramagundam MLA and TRS district president Korukanti Chander found fault with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) management for neglecting contract workers and not implementing agreements entered with labourers.
MLA observed ‘Satyagraha Diksha’ (a day long hunger strike) at NTPC labourer gate on Friday demanding management to implement agreements entered with workers in 2018.
Launching diksha in the morning, Chander alleged that NTPC management was exploiting workers and denying their legitimate rights.
In 2018, NTPC management entered into an agreement with contract workers promising to implement promotion policy, dependent jobs, and pay revision allowances. Instead of implementing them, authorities were delaying the process during the last two and half years and creating troubles to workers in the name of medical checkup and police enquiry.
He demanded the management to take a decision for implementation of all above said promises in the talks scheduled to be held with works on February 16. Stating that there was no question of going back on workers’ demands, he warned to intensify agitation if NTPC failed to implement agreements.
MLA called upon workers to attend duties by wearing black badges.
Ramagundam Mayor Bangi Anil Kumar, deputy mayor Nadipelli Abhishek Rao, Anthergoan ZPTC Amula Narayana, NTPC contract workers’ JAC leader Bijigiri Bhumaiah, Shankar, Laxman, and others participated in diksha.
