Hyderabad: A shocking case of student abuse came into the limelight from a private school in Rangareddy district here on Thursday. A Class II student was allegedly tapped on the mouth by the teacher and poked near his eyes with a pencil.
The child, who was traumatized due to alleged abuse, has not been attending the school for the last 20 days. The kid’s parents who were concerned about their child’s behaviour approached the school, where they uncovered the incident.
Parents were shocked to see the CCTV footage of their child’s mouth being taped and beside a pencil being pointed near his eyes.
Tension prevailed in the school premises when the parents tried to speak with management who allegedly attacked them.
Following the incident, the kid’s parents and some student unions staged a protest in front of the school gate, demanding thorough inquiry and strict action against those involved.
Despite charging a hefty annual fee of Rs.2 lakh per student, the parents accused the school management of negligence and besides causing emotional distress. They also alleged that the school lacks basic facilities such as proper parking facility, which is causing traffic congestion in the front of the school.
When contacted, Rangareddy District Educational Officer P Suseendra Rao was unavailable for a comment on the incident.
