Medak: The negligence in residential schools came to the fore again as at least eight intermediate girl students were bitten by rats at tribal welfare residential school-cum-college located at Narayanpur village in Narsapur mandal on Thursday night.
The girls woke up to see several injuries on their feet on Friday morning. Girl students Nikitha, Jyothi, Usha, Gitanjali, Sandhya, Aswitha and two other students suffered injuries. Even though the students had complained to the warden and staff after noticing the movement of rats, no action was initiated.
Meanwhile, the students complained that the monkeys had also attacked a couple of students on the premises of the hostel recently. Due to lack of hygiene, several inmates of the hostel have been suffering from different skin diseases. The injured students were taken to the area hospital in Narsapur for treatment.
