Nirmal: The BRS mandal president Ennila Anil alleged that the Congress government has utterly failed to offer a support price to maize farmers. He, along with party leaders and farmers, submitted a representation to Kubheer Tahsildar Shivaraj seeking the creation of procurement centres on Friday.
Anil expressed anger over the delay in the creation of centres to procure maize produce even as the crop was harvested a month ago. He said that maize growers were facing inconvenience due to the lack of procurement centres. He added that farmers were being forced to sell their produce to private traders, incurring losses of between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 per acre.
The mandal president recalled that the government had failed to identify procurement centres when soya, red gram and pigeon pea crops were harvested in the past. He also recalled that the BRS government ensured uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours a day, offered crop investment support on time, extended insurance cover to farmers and provided sufficient fertilisers under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao.
BRS leaders Mohiuddin, Pothanna, Linganna, Dattadri, Kashinath, Nagesh and farmers were present.
