Hyderabad: Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC guided by Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, TRS Malkajigiri constituency parliamentary in-charge, approached D Chandra Sekhar, Additional Industrial Advisor, MSME Development Institute, seeking necessary action to help drivers and vehicle owners.
Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC had provided the details of a 24 hours survey of 800 respondents conducted with the help of Reddy who has been guiding them in resolving the issues of the drivers, a press release said.
The loan recovery agents and agencies have been threatening the drivers and vehicle owners even in the pandemic on missing loan installment payments. The drivers who have lost their livelihood due to Covid-19 lockdowns have not been able to pay the EMIs on a regular basis. But the banks and NBFCs even after the directive of RBI were seizing vehicles and forcing people to pay penalties and final settlement on the loans, the release said.
Chandra Sekhar has written to RBI on behalf of Telangana State Taxi and Drivers Joint Action Committee to consider the hardships faced by drivers and vehicle owners due to Covid-19.
A help desk has been set up at MSME-Development Institute, Narsapur Cross Roads, Balanagar, to record the complaints of the drivers and vehicle owners facing harassment from the banks and NBFCs, the release added.
