Resonance felicitates Bal Puraskar awardee Viswanath Karthikey in Hyderabad
Resonance Educational Institutions, Hyderabad, felicitated student Padakanti Viswanath Karthikey, recipient of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. At 16, he became the youngest Indian and world’s second youngest to complete the Seven Summits Challenge. He now aims to join the NDA
Mountaineer Viswanath Karthikey felicited by Resonance Educational Institutions (Hyderabad) in the City on Saturday.
Hyderabad: Resonance Educational Institutions, Hyderabad, felicitated its student Padakanti Viswanath Karthikey, recipient of the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, conferred by the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, in recognition of his exceptional national-level achievement and for being the youngest Indian to complete the Seven Summits Challenge.
The 17-year-old Viswanath Karthikey is an MPC Second Year student of Resonance Suchitra Campus. The ceremony was held at Resonance College, Suchitra Campus, Hyderabad, today.
Mr Purna Chandra Rao, Managing Director, Resonance Educational Institutions, felicitated Viswanath Karthikey and presented him with a Rs 3 lakh cheque as a special recognition award in appreciation of his achievement and contribution. Principals of various Resonance campuses, faculty members, and staff actively participated in the event and expressed their pride in the student’s remarkable accomplishment.
Mr Rao said, “Viswanath Karthikey’s Bal Puraskar is a matter of immense pride for the entire Resonance family. His achievement reflects the power of dedication, discipline, and purposeful learning. We are committed to nurturing such talent and encouraging every student to aim for excellence and serve as a positive force for society.”
For his part, Viswanath Karthikey said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. I sincerely thank the Hon’ble President of India, my parents, and my teachers at Resonance for their constant support and encouragement. This felicitation motivates me to work harder and continue contributing positively in the future.”
Referring to his interaction with the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the occasion, Viswanath recalled his response to the question, “What message do you have for the youth of India?” He said, “Create your own Everest and strive to scale it, set clear goals, and pursue them with unwavering consistency and discipline.”
“We are extremely grateful to Resonance Educational Institutions for guiding and supporting our child throughout this journey. This honour is a proud moment for our family, and we thank the management and faculty for their encouragement and values-driven mentorship,” Viswanath’s parents said.
Karthikey, in his most recent expedition, had embarked on an arduous journey up Mt Everest and reached the summit at 16 years, 6 months, and 27 days on May 27, becoming the youngest Indian and the world’s second youngest mountaineer to complete the Seven Summits Challenge.
The peaks he scaled included Mt Everest (highest peak in the world), Aconcagua (highest in South America), Vinson Massif (highest in Antarctica), Denali (highest in North America), Kang Yatse 1, Kang Yatse 2, Dzo Jongo, Island Peak, Kilimanjaro (highest in Africa), Elbrus (East & West, highest in Europe), Friendship Peak, Kalapathar, Nangkartshang Peak, Kosciuszko (highest in Australia), and Terskol.
Karthikey, who is the youngest Indian and the world’s second youngest to complete the demanding Seven Summits Challenge, is now aiming to finish his Grade XII and join the National Defence Academy.
