Hyderabad: BRS leader and MLC Mohd Mahmood Ali on Sunday criticised the Congress for neglecting the minorities in the State. Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, he pointed out that the Congress had promised free bus travel for senior citizens in RTC, a monthly allowance of Rs 2,500 for women, and house plots for Telangana activists.
However, these promises were never fulfilled. Additionally, the Congress had pledged a pension of Rs 4,000 for the elderly and a minority declaration, both of which were not implemented.
Ali contrasted this with the efforts of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who introduced numerous welfare schemes for minorities. These included the establishment of minority residential schools, the provision of double-bedroom houses, and the declaration of Urdu as the second official language of Telangana.
He also provided training and jobs to Muslims through SETWIN. He accused Revanth Reddy of following the policies of Modi and Amit Shah, which he claimed neglected the welfare of minorities.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy for causing hardships for the people of Old City with the demolition of structures along the Musi River. Ali further criticised Revanth Reddy for his association with RSS and his mentor, Chandrababu Naidu.
He questioned the secular credentials of the Congress and accused Revanth Reddy’s administration of being similar to Modi’s governance, causing injustice to minorities and farmers. He also mentioned that the Congress’ promises of Indiramma houses were never fulfilled, and Revanth Reddy failed to provide any subsidies to minorities after coming to power.
