Revanth Reddy replacing plaques, issuing fresh GOs to claim credit for KCR’s initiatives: Niranjan Reddy
Says re-laying foundation stones for ongoing and completed projects is nothing but a political gimmick

Hyderabad: Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy ridiculed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for replacing existing plaques with new ones and re-laying foundation stones for projects initiated by the previous BRS government, calling it a desperate attempt to claim credit for existing development works.
“Revanth Reddy came to Wanaparthy on Sunday and announced nothing new. He is making a fuss over projects worth Rs 1,000 crore, which were already sanctioned by the K Chandrashekhar Rao government earlier. Re-laying foundation stones for ongoing and completed projects is nothing but a political gimmick,” he said.
Speaking at a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Niranjan Reddy pointed out that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already sanctioned a medical college, a nursing college, and a government hospital for Wanaparthy, with Rs.550 crore allocated. “Construction is already underway. What sense does it make to lay another foundation stone?” he asked.
Similarly, he slammed the Chief Minister for re-laying a foundation stone for the IT tower in Wanaparthy, for which former IT Minister KT Rama Rao had already laid the foundation stone earlier. While the BRS government sanctioned Rs.22 crore and Rama Rao laid the foundation for renovation and repair works of the government polytechnic college building donated by the Wanaparthy royal family, he said Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation stone again.
“The new government simply broke those plaques and placed them with another ones. If the Chief Minister keeps re-doing old work, his office will lose its dignity,” he cautioned.
The BRS leader also pointed out that the Congress government stalled numerous other development works including the Wanaparthy bypass road, Pebberu road, and Rs.120 crore worth of Special Development Fund (SDF) works. He stated that JNTU engineering college construction was initiated three years ago with Rs 7 crore spent in the first phase and funds were sanctioned for the second phase during the BRS regime. “But the Congress government cancelled the works under the second phase,” he said.
He suggested that if the Chief Minister or the Congress government wanted recognition, they should deliver new projects, but not rename, lay fresh foundations and re-inaugurate past achievements.
Niranjan Reddy also took a dig at Revanth Reddy for blaming former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the BRS government for the failures of the Congress government. However, he pointed out that the Chief Minister was shamelessly taking credit for the former Chief Minister’s good work.
The BRS leader compared Revanth Reddy’s tactics to the BJP leaders who discredit Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru while having no role in the freedom movement, stating that attempting to tarnish Chandrashekhar Rao’s legacy would not succeed. He demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to the people of Wanaparthy for his remarks mocking the formation of Wanaparthy district.
