Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy once again returned to his familiar refrain of ‘Bade bhai Chote Bhai’ when referring to State–Centre relations, as he sought Central support for key developmental works in Telangana on Tuesday.
Addressing the Regional Meeting of Urban Development Ministers here, the Chief Minister turned to Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and requested Central assistance for the Musi River rejuvenation project, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, lifting of River Godavari water to Hyderabad and the Regional Ring Road project.
Describing Hyderabad as a city with favourable weather and a diverse cultural fabric, Revanth Reddy said it had all the qualities required for national-level infrastructure support. “Dr BR Ambedkar had proposed Hyderabad as the second capital of India. I will not appeal to make it the second capital. Instead, infrastructure development needs to be supported on that level,” he said. He added that his flagship Musi River rejuvenation initiative was as significant as the Sabarmati riverfront project in Ahmedabad.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s vision of developing India into a 30 trillion USD economy by 2047 under Viksit Bharat 2047, he said the State government would release the Telangana Rising Vision Document 2047 on December 9.
“We are working with the aim of making Telangana a 1 trillion USD economy by 2034 and a 3 trillion USD economy by 2047. We expect Telangana to contribute 10 percent of the country’s economy,” he said.
