Bhopal: In Rewa, a horrifying incident has come to light. A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped within the government-run Sanjay Gandhi Hospital during the night between Sunday and Monday. The shocking crime has prompted severe criticism, with the Congress party accusing the state government of protecting the accused.
Congress leaders and former CM Kamal Nath have voiced deep concern over the safety of young girls in Madhya Pradesh. On the microblogging platform X, Kamal Nath expressed his anguish, warning that the incident is a grim reminder that daughters in the state remain unsafe. He emphasized that no effort should be made to hide or suppress the case and called for immediate action to ensure the victim’s safety and secure justice.
Hospital superintendent Rahul Mishra confirmed that the incident has been reported to the police, insisting that no hospital staff were involved. However, allegations continue to emerge. The Congress party claims that three outsourced hospital employees are implicated in the crime and questions why any attempts seem to be underway to bury the matter. They have also raised concerns regarding the hospital’s management, a politically sensitive issue, since Mishra is reportedly the nephew of State Health Minister Rajendra Shukla, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister.
State officials are under increasing pressure from both the public and political figures. A senior police officer has stated that an investigation is ongoing, with more details expected once inquiries conclude. On social media, state Congress president Jitendra Patwari denounced the incident as yet another sign of lawlessness in Madhya Pradesh. He criticized what he views as a disturbing trend of using political power to shield those accused of serious crimes, rather than protecting the victims.
This case has raised serious questions about governance and accountability in the state. As political leaders and the public demand transparency, the key focus now remains on ensuring that justice is delivered for the victim and that such crimes are not overlooked under political influence.
