Peddapalli: The wife and colleagues of Civil Deputy Manager of Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL), Ravishankar Prasad (36), who died of Covid-19 on Monday, staged a protest in RFCL township alleging that Prasad died due to negligence of the management.

The group including the Prasad’s wife Anitha staged the dharna along with the body and demanded Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia besides a job for the wife.

Prasad, a native of Kolkata, tested positive for Covid-19 about 20 days ago and recovered from the virus after treatment. However, he again got infected by the virus three days ago and was admitted to Apollo hospital in Karimnagar, where he died on Monday morning.

Stating that Ravishankar Prasad died due to negligence of RFCL management, the officers and colleagues staged a protest. After five hours of negotiation, the management agreed to provide Rs 9 lakh death relief and half salary (Rs 40,000) to the wife. They said they would bring to the notice of higher authorities the other demands including Rs 50 lakh exgratia, job, and quarter facility. Satisfied with the management’s assurance, the group withdrew their protest.
