Hyderabad: At 23, Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli prefers to be a quiet performer, even as he hopes to make it to the forthcoming US Open Grand Slam tennis championship after playing in a couple of tournaments in Germany and then in the US circuit.
A product of the School of Power Tennis at Railway Recreation Club Ground in Secunderabad, Rithvik was mentored by one of the finest tennis coaches India has ever produced, C.V. Nagraj. Rithvik has been under Nagraj’s guidance since he was seven. At 18, he left for the US for higher studies, only to return in 2023 and pursue a tennis career with renewed seriousness.
Rithvik is a graduate in Business Communication from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, after completing his Intermediate studies at Bhavan’s Sri Aurobindo Junior College (Secunderabad) and schooling at Delhi Public School. As of June 30, 2025, Rithvik is ranked No. 79 in ATP doubles rankings.
One of Rithvik’s least publicized achievements is being the youngest ATP doubles player to break into the top 80, having been ranked No. 65 in March 2025.
“What impresses me the most about Rithvik is his steely determination. Once he targets something, he will not rest until he achieves it,” says his proud coach, Nagraj, who himself has never received the recognition he deserves, despite his incredible record of producing six Davis Cuppers: Susheel Narla, Punna Vishal, J. Vishnu Vardhan, Saketh Myneni, Mukund Sasi Kumar, and Rithvik.
Rithvik, who is currently ranked India No. 4 in men’s doubles rankings, is known for his great serve and exceptional forehand and backhands, says Nagraj.
Some of Rithvik’s major achievements include winning the 2025 ATP Tour title in Santiago, becoming the first Indian to win an ATP title on Latin American clay. He also won the 2024 ATP Tour title in Kazakhstan. In total, this gifted player has won four ATP titles, finished runner-up in seven, and claimed eight ITF titles along with two runner-up positions.
Not surprisingly, Rithvik’s consistency earned him a Davis Cup debut in 2024 against Togo, where he played a key role in India’s qualification for World Group I.
Importantly, the Hyderabadi tennis star also realized any tennis player’s dream—making a Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open and later competing in the French and Wimbledon Opens. While he may not have put up standout performances at these Grand Slams, he reminded everyone of his growing reputation in the big leagues. In fact, Rithvik became the first ATP player from Telangana to win a match at Wimbledon.
“I feel that he is a replica of my other trainee, Vishnu, in many aspects. I have a strong feeling that a big result is just around the corner,” signs off a confident Nagraj.
