Jayashankar Bhupalpally: Two thieves have allegedly looted a jewellery shop at Ganapuram mandal centre in the district in the wee hours of Wednesday. The burglars have reportedly decamped with nearly 30 tolas of gold, 20 kgs of silver plates and eight kgs of silver anklets, total worth around Rs 36 lakh from Lakshmiprasanna Jewellery shop, according to its owner Ashok, a resident of the same village.

Ashok came to open the shop in the morning and was shocked to see the empty closets in the shop as the jewellery stored was stolen. As the shutters remained intact, jeweller found that the thieves gained entry into the shop by cutting open the iron grills of the window located on the rearside of the shop.

Thereupon, Ashok lodged a complaint with the local police about the theft. Following this, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Udaykiran inspected the shop and collected the evidence.

After checking the CCTV footage outside the shop, police found two persons moving suspiciously carrying the bags in the early hours. By registering a case, the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
