Nirmal: The State government issued an order sanctioning a grant of Rs 41.80 to develop the famed Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam of Basar, recently.

Executive Officer of the temple Vinod Reddy said that the government has sanctioned Rs 41.80 crore to develop the shrine. He stated tenders would be invited to select a consultancy that would execute the works, soon. He added that the works would be commenced based on priority. Already funds Rs 8.20 crore were released in 2021.


According to the authorities of the abode of the goddess of wisdom, a compound wall would be constructed around the shrine, and an additional floor would be constructed at a guest house. Similarly, sheds meant for providing shade to devotees on the premises of the temple are going to be built up with the help of the funds.

The consultancy would prepare a master plan to take up developmental activities. Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy, commissioner, Spapathi, engineering authorities and officials of the shrine make a decision with regard to the developmental works. Accordingly, the works would be commenced at the earliest, an official said.

It may be recalled that Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy, had recently assured that he would strive hard for the development of the temple, spending Rs 50 crore.
