Rs 70 cr worth developmental works taken up at Vemulawada temple

Rajanna-Sircilla: Vemulawada MLA Ch Ramesh Babu informed that developmental works of Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple as well as town were taken up with Rs 70 to Rs 80 crore. Informing that Rs 20 crore were recently sanctioned, all works would be completed in a phased manner. MLA participated in the Vemulawada Temple Development Authority meeting held under the chair of its vice-chairman M Purushotham Reddy in Vemulawada on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Babu informed that development of the temple tank was taken up with Rs 91.68 crore in 167 acres of land. An additional 30 acres of land was also acquired to construct bund. Rs 50 crore was allocated for the development of bund. Water would be available in the tank through the year since arrangements have also been made to lift water into the tank by spending Rs 14 crore.
Construction of 800 meter bathing ghat was under progress and the tank would turn as a ‘nithya pushkarini’ wherein about 2,000 devotes could take bath at one go once the works were completed. MLC promised to complete tank works by Shivaratri. Talking about expansion of roads in the temple town, he said the municipality has passed a resolution to expand the road up to 80 feet. In the first phase, expansion works would be taken up from bus stand to temple and in second phase, from temple to police station.
Informing to start works next year, he expressed confidence to complete road works by the end of 2022. Drainage works would also be taken up with Rs 33 crore.
Expansion of Baddi Pochamma temple was also on cards and it was decided to expand the shrine to one acre from the existing two gunts. Rs 20 crore was also deposited with the collector to acquire land. The highest compensation is being offered to ousteers. Besides Rs 30,000 per square feet, a job in the temple was also provided to the family members of the ousters. Informing that he and officials spoke with oustees on a number of occasions, he asked the land ousters to come up with a positive decision.
Estimation for the construction of bridge-cum-check dam at Bathukamma Teppa has also been sent to the government. Water would be available at the spot through the year since water would be lifted through package-9 of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Besides developing a traffic junction at Thippapur with Rs 9 crore, a new bus stand would also be constructed. Construction of a second ghat road to Nampally temple was also in the proposal.
