Hyderabad: Slamming the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party for their unethical and undemocratic politics, BRS General Secretary RS Praveen Kumar said that amidst the unholy drama being enacted by the two parties, innocent youth were being killed and jailed in the State.

During the Chairman and Vice Chairman elections in Amangal Municipality under Kalvakurthy constituency, following a conflict and cases being filed against BRS workers, many were sent to jail. On Saturday, the BRS General Secretary met the BRS activists at Chenchalguda Central Jail and extended moral support.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Praveen Kumar charged that the Election Commission of India was favouring the ruling Congress party. “Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is not delivering a people’s government or Indiramma rule, but it is anarchic and undemocratic governance,” he said.

Despite there being a hung verdict in 36 Urban Local Bodies in the State, the Congress government used its might and committed atrocities to capture Chairperson and Vice Chairperson posts, he charged. “Amidst these cruel politics, a young innocent man named Srikanth has been sent to jail for fighting to protect democracy. Democracy is murdered in broad daylight in Amangal,” Praveen Kumar said.

Congress won just one seat in the municipality. But since Kalvakurthy happens to be part of the Chief Minister’s home district, the Congress committed irregularities to win the Chairperson post. “BRS councillor Pathya Naik was forcibly taken into the Congress party and assured that he would be made the Chairperson. It was a mockery of democracy,” he maintained.

While the BRS youth were refraining from any unlawful activities and quarrels, they were accused of attacking others. Accordingly, cases were registered against them, he charged, adding that Congress MP from Nagarkurnool Mallu Ravi, MLA Kasireddy Narayan Reddy and BJP leader Acharya had sat together in the police station and fabricated illegal cases.
