Karimnagar: The TGSRTC management’s decision to hire private drivers to operate buses in view of the TGSRTC strike all over the state reportedly led to an accident in Karimnagar district. Some passengers were injured when an RTC bus rammed into an oncoming truck on Kothirampur bypass road here on Wednesday morning.

Passengers said the Karimnagar-2 depot bus was on its way to Warangal when it hit a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Later, the vehicle rammed into the road divider.

According to passengers, the accident occurred due to negligence of the driver. In the wake of the RTC employees strike, a private driver was engaged to drive the vehicle.

Local people rushed to the spot and shifted injured passengers to hospital.

On the other hand, the RTC strike is continuing peacefully. Except for hired and electric buses, all the buses were confined to depots in Karimnagar region. Huge police force was deployed at depots and bus stations to avert any untoward incidents.

Passengers were seen standing in bus stops for buses. Taking it as an advantage, private operators including autorickshaws, cars and other vehicles are collecting huge charges from passengers.
