Nalgonda: Ruckus prevailed in Yadadri Bhongir Municipality during the Special Meeting after a Congress Councillor raised objections over the party’s decision to offer Chairperson’s post to another Councillor from the BC community.
Congress candidate from 12th ward G Srivani Ganesh Reddy was an aspirant for the Chairperson’s post. However, the Congress party decided to offer the post to a candidate from the BC community.
Irked over the party’s decision, Srivani raised an objection during the Special Meeting conducted to elect the new Chairperson. She sprang to her feet and questioned why the party was adopting discriminative politics.
“How can a BC candidate get the Chairperson post in a ULB, in which the post is reserved for General category candidate,” Srivani asked, according to reports.
She also condemned the politics of a few Congress leaders for triggering local and non-local issues in the Chairperson election. “When will the educated Congress leaders get opportunities,” Srivani asked.
Congress MLA from Bhongir Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy tried to pacify her but she did not relent and kept raising objections. Additional Collector Bhaskar Rao had to intervene and directed the Councillor not to create any ruckus in the Council Hall, reports said.
