Rural photographer from Telangana bags international award

Peddapalli: Erukulla Veeresham, a rural photographer, has won a gold medal at an international-level photography competition. His photo about the tradition and culture of Aruku tribes won the gold medal at the Federation International de L’Art Photographique (FIAP).
Kohinoor Digital Circuit organised FIAP’s international-level photography competition online and photographers from 26 countries took part in the event.
Three months ago, it invited entries from photographs in four categories such as colour, monochrome, nature and traveling. Veeresham’s photography got a gold medal in colour category. Recently, he received a gold medal from organisers. District Collector Sanjeeta Satyanarayana appreciated Veeresham for winning the gold medal at the international competition.
A photographer by profession, Veeresham also won a number of medals and appreciation certificates at national and international level competitions. His photography on ‘Papikondalu’ won Rs 30,000 cash prize in a competition held in Kolkata four years ago. He won first prize in a selfie contest organized during the biennial Sammakka-Sarakka jatara at Medaram in 2020.
He also got an honor certificate from the Associate Image Colleague Society (AICS) for his documentary on rural lifestyle. A native of Jeelakunta of Odela mandal, Veeresham runs a photo studio in Pothkapalli of sane manda. Though he has been in the profession for the last 23 years, he shifted to Art photography 12 years ago.
Speaking to TelanganaToday, Veeresham expressed happiness for winning the gold medal in FIAP’s international level competition. He was unable to take part in international level competitions due to financial problems and expressed confidence to capture more beautiful pictures if anybody supported him.
